Lucy, have just gone bright green with envy :D :D :D I used to have an Impreza Turbo but was reduced to stepping down to a 2.2gx Legacy Estate because my family of dogs grew a little (((out of hand)))) :D :D

I've been driving Imprezas for 8+ years & I love them on my third now I only got this one because it has AC for the dogs Its blue but looks black & I swopped the orange side indicators & reflectors for white ones so it is now in Border Collie colours
Just ordered a new dog crate for mine in anticipation of my new puppy(who hasn't been born yet)

You can go off people verrrry quickly (sulky smillie) :D :D :D
Now reduced to a transit van, cant get 7 Labs in the back of a little estate car (am now pouting) :D :D

Swop them labs for some cavaliers LOLOLOLOL
Trouble is when you get an Impreza you also need a radar detector as they do tend to go quite fast LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Couldn't swap them MM, can't even give them away :D :D Know what you mean about speed thought. Driving happily down M6 at 5am clocked 135mph, didnt realise it, though I was doing about 90, because.........I was being overtaken, god knows what speed those 2 cars were doing. One was my dream car .... Daimler Azure only £250000 on the road. Waiting list was a little too long for my liking though, so decided to stick with the Subaru :D :D :D

Most of the driving I do is down country lanes to work and so having good handling is quite important :)
The boot will be big enough for two Labs :) ( well three as although Min isn't much of a car traveller now the newbie will be :) )
I did open it up on a dual carriage way last night and wow did it go ! :D Good job I won't be doing much motorway driving.
It is a lovely car although the 4 door I am driving now just put peoples backs up. It took an age to get people to let me out on a busy junction  .
Anyway I think we maybe having a new four wheeled member of our family very soon :D

LOLOL Lucy mine has a personal number plate so people think is a very old car ! Boy racers come along side on dual carriageways at Traffic lights etc Their faces are a picture when they are left for dead !!! I had a Justy before the Imprezas & I had the ECVT(a belt driven non gear box jobby)Hee hee I used to have boy racers come alongside me in that & because there was no gearbox the accelaration in the power mode was brilliant & I used to leave them for dead in it as well. When I sold it I had someone from Wales ring me & ask me had I had any problem with the gearbox(it was a garage!)when I stopped laughing & told them no because it had no gearbox the mechanic went into the OMG a little silly woman mode ! & told me that ALL cars had gearboxes ! I pointed out the ECVT meant Electrically constant variable transmission & that is was based on the onl DAF VT engine he said like "what you mean I've being trying to find the gearbox fluid intake & there's no gearbox"to which I ansered "well yes it does have ECVT on the doors !"Exit one very embarassed senior motor engineer LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL:D
Boy have i been waiting for a thread like this :) I also have an Impreza STI 8 thats the new age blobeye model, Ihave also detangoed my front lights and have the full rally graphics on it.
If anyone needs any advice at all on Subaru's then dont hesitate to check out www.scoobynet.co.uk
They are a good bunch of people who will offer good advice and give you a giggle as well.
We often have some big meet ups during the year ie. one at Lightwater Valley and one in Blackpool all procceds go to charity.
Happy motoring

When i grow up i want one with a nodding scooby doo in it and it got to be black with silver wheels and blue with gold wheels.
Mines Blue with Gold wheels, the white ones look really classy :)

I've been driving a Subaru Impreza for about 2 years, silver Turbo. (hatchback for the dogs)
It's not really mine, it belongs to my husband. I let him drive it at weekends when I'm not using it!!!
Best car I've ever had.
But you have to watch out for the muppets ;)
I can confirm that the boot is big enough for two labs. BUT interior of boot is expensive to replace when eaten :o If family expands I plan to put the back seats down :D

Oh not imminent but in the planning stage Pam :D
Moonmaiden I have been driving a WRX sports wagon for nearly 5 years now LOVE it. But then Im used to paying high insurance (always had fast cars). Some of the garage bills can be seriously frightneing, especially if you drive like some of the folks on 'scoobynet' :) If you really want to try it out I recomend that you buy a track day, much cheeper than speeding fines. Oh and remember to wipe the grin off of your face before you go back to negotiate ;) You may also want to check out some of the car 'supermarkets' as thye normally advertise new wrx sports waggons for around £17K :)))
Us WYIOC Crew have nearly been muppetized a few times :)
Ouch Talking of muppets... got to renew my insurance in the next couple of weeks :( Tesco appear to be cheepest again BUT I have to change pads and discs and was going to upgrade them, unfortunately Tesco think this is a modification and it will invalidate my insurance. Dont suppose it occoured to them that stopping quicker may prevent/avoid accidents?
Insurance and modifications dont go together aswell as a reasonable price :( I would love to change my Exhaust and upgrade my brakes but i'll just have to slow down i suppose .

Does anyone have an old car ?
Our main family car is a volvo estate which is fairly new but my old car which I love to bits is a honda aerodeck etstate I know it sounds boring but with the seats down will hold four large dogs is low enough for oldies to get in and is very very fast :) so if anyone is looking for a cheap to run or buy old car look for one of these they are great.
forgot to say one of my other favourites was a subaru legacy estate which sadly my husband wrote off !!!!!!
It puzzels me that even with all the sofisticated profiling that insurance companies are supposed to do they can not distinguish between a car enthusiast who has driven fast cars (many of which were faster and more expensive than a scooby)without incident for upwards of 20 years and a boy racer who has just bought his first fast car and will drive off the road at the first bend. It is actually more expensive to insure my scooby than many sports cars costing twice the price with similar of better performance.

Be very very of "grey" imported imports, they do not come with anywhere near the warranty of the UK pukka imports, for example a bloke in the area I live in bought a "grey"from a supermarket who had not done the proper pre sale checks adjustments & there was a problem because of this & the supermarket took the car to my dealers garage who would just have gone ahead if it had been a pukka import but were not covered by the warranty that came with the import from the Netherlands, So the supermaret had to pay up(not sure what pre delivery check or action they forgot to do but the car supermarkets do not have Subaru trained mechanics). I got a really good deal with my dealer as I have been a customer for years cince my Sumo van back in the early 80's & I know all three of the subaru mechanics there & they are a super honest set of lads. The service manager is also a Subaru trained mechanic & they have a system that they mark all the components & record them on the computer base so that when the have to be renewed they are checked back in as being changed & checked by the service manager at the end of the day, this way they track all the items are changed when due & the customer can check for themselves if they want
They are a most reliable car as of course all the new models are rally tested before being put on the road ! & not vica versa as happens with the other manufacturers. So when you get your car all the new additions etc are almost foolproof
Can't wait for my new custom made transit box for the boys to be ready in three weeks time
Oh no you definately dont want a grey, most insurance companies wont touch them. But some 'supermarkets' have legit UK ones.
Glad you have had such a good experience with your dealer, I have yet to have a local dealer that is around for more than a year. Now nearest dealer is 30 odd miles away and getting a courtesy car or a lift is like getting blood out of a stone. If service had been good I would have stayed with main dealer, but it wasnt and since there is an independent who specalises in Subaru and Porsche just around the corner, who is about half the price and just cannot do enough to help we get both our cars serviced there.

I bet it's run by Subaru trained mechanics as they are worth their weight in gold, the main dealers round here have changed last year, but their mechanics haven't done all their training & Subaru still have my dealers as a service garage. The new dealer is too far away from me & rather the devil you know for me. LOL My service manager over the years has become a friend as have the mechanics
The supermarkets couldn't get me my Impreza Model as I only drive the automatic version & they couldn't even get me a manuel version in the colour I wanted & offered no after service !
Quite agree with the insurance there's a lad in our village who drives his dad old version WRX like a pratt, he isn't a good driver at all, still he can never catch me ;)
Yep the guy who runs it used to run a subaru rally team :D Says he can make mine 500bhp - told him only if he was going to insure it for me. I have to say that Subaru really DO need to improve communications with their dealers and customers. BUT it is an excelent car, the only one apart from the TVR that really made me smile, but I did get the TVR sideways and the seats in the back were a bit small for 2 labs.

I've never had a problem but then I'm a pushy sod ;) I've even had customer services manager at Subaru ring me at night at home to make sure everything was alright, but in the 17 years I've had Subarus I've never had a major problem with any of them & when I ordered my current one they told the garage they couldn't get it until August instead of June & I was more than a bit miffed & the dealer rang them for me & he put me on the phone, Two days later I go the CS managers first call ensuring me the car would be there in time to be ready for the 1st of June & it was & with a bottle of bubbly & team Subaru goodies & a personal letter of apology from the International Motors CEO in the UK LOLOLOLOL The Service manager told me that IM had kept in close contact every day telling him exactly were the car was :D
Yeh when ever I had a problem they did sort it BUT I had to shout, that is not what I call good customer service. Silliest one was my car was one of the first of its model, 2 months later they increased the service interval form 7000 to 9000 miles. I asked what had been changed to increase the interval and they said it was a compleatly new model. It took 3 angry letters from me before they said Oh dear you have been given the wrong service book, it should have been 9000 miles all along. But perhaps I am also a bit spoilt as OH has a porsche and their service is close to perfect.
And bl**dy expensive by all accounts
In most cases about the same as the scooby, wihci incidentally is nearly twice the price of ford servicing. Only really gets expensive when they have to try and find the engine ;)
