Hi Tracey,
BAER stands for Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response, and is the only certain way of discovering if a dog is unilaterally (or worse, totally) deaf. Of course only animals with normal hearing in both ears should be bred from. There are details about the test here (click on the link) that'll give you lots of information. This link will also be of interest.

Boxers aren't my speciality, but there are others on here who'll be able to tell you about the heart-testing and any other breed tests.

It is the same electronic test that a baby will ahve if there is any suspicion of deafness (usually wyhen tyey don't pass tyhe rattle something behind them reaction test).  Electrodes are placed on the pup and electrical impulses detect if the dog or perdon or what have you can hear.  You would have to be refered to a Vet that carries out this procedure.  Your nearest Boxer or Dalmation breed club are likely to have a list.

Boxers also ahve to ahve a special heart test carried out by a specialist in cardiology and any murmer graded.  Only dogs scoring 0 or 1 shopuld be bred from, as there is a high incidence of hereditary heart disease ind the breed which is slowly being reduced by this screening.  You dog should also have x-rays taken of it's hips by your vetr, and the plates are then sent away to a panel of experts at the British Veterinary Association, and they will receive a score, best being 0/0=0, and worst 53/53=106.

Your pup being white should have been BAER testd by it's breeder, did you get a certificate or see a copy for the litter?

I had my young bitch hip scored last month and it cost me £170, and the other tests are specialist referal and I woudl expect to cost ar4ound another £200.

If you aim is simply to ahve another Boxer then I suggest it would be cheaper and easier to buy another pup when you are ready.

Breeding a litter requires a geat deal of study, and research, time, money and an ongoing commitment to care for the pups if they need it for the rest of their lives.  This could mean being asked to take dogs back years later.

I would also expect that you dogs registration certificate will ahve been endorsed 'progeny not eligible for registration' something reputable breeders put ofn puppies registrations to prevent pups from unsuiable dogs being regitered in order to protect the breed, and their lines.
