The reason white boxers are very rarely bred from is that they have a high risk of not only being deaf themselves, but also of passing deafness on to their offspring. Has your bitch been BAER tested normal? If not, please don't even consider breeding from her.

The BAER test is, of course, in addition to the other tests that boxers need to pass before they're bred from; hip-scoring and heart-testing are also vital.

The reason that w2hite boxers are born is because of the markings on one or both of their parents being white, giving rise to soem that have too much white.  Using a white for breeding witll increase the risk of producing even more whites, with the increased risk of deafness, adn ist ia a color pattern not acceptable in the breed ring.

I know boxer breeders and they curse when theya re wanting to keep a pup, as often the sex they want or th4e nicest shaped head or whatever is on the white pup which is no good for showing.

At one time white boxer pups were put to sleep at birst, as there wa no way of really testing ro the hearing.  It is still heart breaking to ahve them tested at 5 weeks plus only then to find they are deaf, so I suppose some breeders would find it easier to ahve had them put to sleep at birth.

So basically it wouldn't be a good idea to bred from your dog, as even if it passed it's health tests it's colouring would mean a higher risk of producing potentially deaf or hard of hearing pups.

Hi Guest,
There are many different camps on this one but I would NEVER breed from a white Boxer dog or bitch.
White boxers can carry the gene that makes them deaf or have blue eyes, but so can boxers of other colours.
If you have a white boxer, then it has a recessive gene that ensures that many, if not all of its offspring are white.
White boxers are NOT rare and shouldn't be sold as such. If they are registered by the Kennel Club (as many these days are) then they should be sold on the proviso that they are not bred from.
Its not an elitist thing between boxer owners/breeders of coloured boxers and owners of white boxers.....it is to protect the breed.
To go ahead and breed from a white boxer is ethically wrong in my opinion....but it is justy my opinion.

So in answer to your post...by all means go ahead and have your Boxer health tested for your own peace of mind, but DO NOT attempt to mate her.
You will probably find that you would have trouble finding a responsible Stud owner who would put their dog to your girl anyway.
