I have visited this site on a regular basis both prior and since becoming the proud owner of a lab bitch. On occassion i asked 1or 2 questions(I know I should have joined!!!) and found the advice given useful and informative, as a new dog owner with no previous experience of dog ownership. As to the matter of how guests posts are answered I can see no problems, it seems to me that some people are rather too sensitive to getting a straight answer to a question. Carry on with the good work, this includes John who's posts and replies relating to labs I have found very helpful and informative.
Regards
IJ (In deepest straight talking Welsh Wales)

Thank you, IJ. That's very much appreciated.
:)
I'll second that IJ, nice to hear from happy guests, its getting to be a rare event.
Unfortunately though this last disgusting thread, has lost two of the older experienced regulars to the board (including the one who helped you). They've had enough of the abuse.
My posts are getting less and less as well and probably I will fizzle out myself.
Still it is nice to hear thanks instead of abuse for a change.
Is John not going to be using this forum anymore?
Sarah

Unfortunately nobody can be expected to have the patience of a saint, which is required to tolerate some of the idiotic posts that are allowed to remain on the forum.
Sadly the people who genuinely want advice will have nobody left to turn to, and the dogs will suffer, all because of a few closed-minded fools who are allowed to get away with breaking the ToS. CD will go from being a sensible board to yet another one where the blind lead the blind.
:(

That sounds like a criticism of Admin JG .....are you saying they let some posts stay deliberately? Just curious and, it could be that I have misread your post :)

If I wanted to criticise Admin, Mel, I'd either PM or email them, not do it on the Forum.
We all know that some posts are removed, and quite rightly so, as some have been extremely offensive. Others, more borderline in their rudeness, remain. However, if anyone responds to them, then they get their wrist slapped, not necessarily by Admin, but by others. Some posters (
not aimed at anyone in particular, by the way) seem to have carte blanche for rudeness, but others must bite their tongues.

Thank you for the explaination JG. Can't say I have noticed that myself ..most people seem to have been banned for short periods of time at some point (myself included :D ) for going OTT. I have always thought that Admin lean towards extreme leniancy with everyone. Pretty sure I would have banned more people sooner if I was in charge here :D

Welcome - I do hope you'll join us - we need more "straight-talking" members :)

I second that Margot. Unfortunately, over the last year or so there has been a great loss of the knowledgable and more experienced members. I can understand why they feel they are banging their heads off brick walls. Questions are asked, replied and debated, all to the good. BUT, reading some of the more recent posts, these members have been blatantly attacked, for no reason other than the (I need to be pandered to) syndrome.
Wellcome IJ,
Yes Smurgle, John has decided to leave us, for a while anyway. My best wishes go with him. I for one hope he is watching the forum and maybe PM me on some of the posts from time to time. I personally feel quite disgusted at the way he has been treated.
Kay
I seriously hope John doesn't leave, though I wouldn't blame him if he did. He has always gone to a lot of trouble to help others on here and shares his expertise freely :(
I am relatively new but have posted as a guest many times before I joined. Your replies are generaly helpful if sometimes a little curt, however, without having people like you to stand up for the dogs rights I shudder to think what might happen to a lot of our dog pals. I have to agree that quite a few guest posts are a little off the wall, for instance the people who seem intent on strange cross breeds, but having said that many guests just want help. Please dont stop giving it.
