Regularly read the Champdogs forum as I am mad on dogs.  But as a long shot, I am trying to source a Lambretta Scooter. and as a lot of people visit this site thought I would give it a try.

I am looking for an old Lambretta, preferably an SX200 or GP200 (Italian) in any condition, the scrappier the better.  My husband (an old mod) is wanting to restore one and I would love to surprise him for his birthday with one.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated.  We would be prepared to travel the ends of the earth (have even been on a reccie to Italy !!) and would transport home.

Put a wanted ad in the local paper- or try Scootering magazine :)

My ex bought one years ago in pieces from someone on his round and then restored it totally (cost an arm and a leg to do but it looked brilliant when finished) :)

Thanks for the message.  I do subscribe to Scootering Mag, but as yet no luck - most of the lambrettas for sale are already restored and cos as much as £7,000.

May try the local paper, but living where we do we are in 'biker' country and don't see too many scooters on the road.

Did you ex sell the scooter once restored or is he still going on scooter rallies.  Went to one in Bridlington last year and met an old friend, now in his late 40's and still doing the rallies. (and apparently the Chairman of the Lambretta Scooter Club - and he wouldn't sell us anything !!)

Know it will cost a lot to resore, but it will keep hubby happy in his garage for months, so not a bad thing !!

he kept it for a good few years before selling it- dont know if he still goes on the rallies but he was up til about 4 years ago :) Used to be a member of Cloud 9

A failed project is probably your best bet- or someone whos ran out of time and money ;)
what about a wanted ad in Autotrader- they have bikes etc listed there

There are a few on ebay, look in decent condition tho.

Where do you live Jan? Because two of my brothers are members of the trident trojans scooter club and they might be able to tell you where you could find one. They said that there is no way you find a restorded GP200 for less the £7000 as everyone wants on. They do know where you can get some scooters like you want but you will have to payt a lot of money for them.

Blimey, this takes me back, me and OH used to go to rallies  back in the days when NSRA ran all the do's and before we were married with kids, although my eldest came on a few with us as a baby.  heehee got all the Paddy smith patches out to show the kids last night after I told OH about this thread.  Now of course, he is hankering after another scoot LOL!  Thought Id left the days behind when I shared my dining table with the latest engine in bits  !!      and we cant believe the prices they sell for now, they used to change hands for a couple of hundred pounds then , to do up!  LOL.

This takes me back to when I had a scooter in the 60's Told my Dad we were off to Scarborough one weekend & went off to Clacton instead. Bad mistake as my dad saw me on the TV news so the the scooter had to go I did get car driving lessons instead tho'
