Topic Dog Boards / Health / Insect bites? Constantly itchy
- By Maiko [au] Date 07.03.05 17:01 UTC
My CKCS has what looks like insect bites on her, especially her belly, chest and legs. She's constantly itchy and it really irritates her. The areas she has been biting and scratching are going bald and it's very pink. I don't think it's fleas as I frontline her and in the past when we had fleas I got bitten too. Do you think it could be dustmites or something else in the carpet? The other one I suspect are ants in the garden. Please help!

Hi Maiko,

I think I'd take her to the vet, sooner rather than later  - only you know what these marks look like and yes, they could be bites from some insect/parasite or they could be a rash which is an allergic reaction to someting in her diet or possibly in her environment (considering the points of her body they are on).

In any event when people get insect bites, particularly multiple ones, or have an allergic reaction is is usually at best VERY uncomfortable and can also be extremely upsetting and painful :(   Just try and think how she might be feeling and please make an appointment for her tonight if you can still get one.

Let us know how she gets on,
Good luck,

Teri :)
