Does it cause upset stomaches in puppies due to bacteria in the milk or is it okay to feed?

Rather feed a puppy goats milk personly.

Cows Milk is pasteurised so bacteria won't be a problem and Cows milk in small amounts may be Ok with some dogs.  Many dogs cannot digest the Lactose in cos Milk, but most will be much better with Goats Milk which rarely causes problems.

If it is for young Pups thenb a Proper Puppy Formula is best.  Most are Cows Milk based and have doen well with several, but have liked and had least reaction in older pups or Mum to Nutrilac which is formilated from Goats Milk.

If puppies are anything like humans then if you continue to feed small amounts of milk on a fairly regular basis then they will not lose the enzyme that digests lactose (lactase), it is only when there is no milk in the diet that this enzymes is lost. I give my pup a bit of cow's milk every now and again and he loves it, just watch out at the other end to make sure there are no problems!

Hi Frank

Cows milk is for baby cows and is nowhere near as rich as bitch's milk (or goats milk) so is not really suitable for a "food".  Puppies do not actually need milk once they have been weaned (only humans consume it at other times of their lives)

goats milk is good as it doesnt contain as much lactose so is easier to digest.
