In my local paper over the last 2 or 3 weeks as been a story about a young Staffie stolen out of his garden. His owners have offered a big reward for his return. They fear the poor little thing as been stolen for dog fighting.
What gives these low life the right to just go and take much loved pets. It sickens me. In our area its happened alot over the last months. I dont take my dogs out much at all in fear the wrong person might see them.
I dont know if I did the right thing but I contacted the owners just to offer support and help although I know theres little I can do.
Im just hoping they dont think I know something and Im only after the reward money. Theres no way Id ever take money for the return of a pet.
Sorry just had to have a rant. This subject does really bring my blood to the boil.

I think you contacting them was a lovely gesture Sharonb ;)  I honestly can't imagine how I'd cope if something like this happened to any of my dogs - there are some evil people out there

I live in fear of mine being 'dognapped' - a lot of staffies go missing :-(

I do hope they find it & the poor little chap has not been used for fighting.

It seems as if a lot of the dogs that go missing in this area are held to "ransom".   Suffice to say that we do have a fairly large travelling population floating in and out of the area :(

OH and No1 son would like to see our Aussie Posse Wagon resprayed, looking smart with maybe an Aussie logo on it - I've put my foot down because I just don't want to advertise where we are - we're nicely off the beaten track, and I prefer to stay that way!

Yea I was so moved by the story and the pic. More so with it being a Staffie I just hope its not been taken for fighting. Ive thought of ways in which I can help but its hopeless. They must feel so useless.

Just this weekend I have had 2 e-mails regarding stolen Staffies from our local Staff rescue group.
It seems to be becoming even more of a problem just lately :(
I just don't know what we can do apart from constant vigilance with our dogs.

It seems thats all we can do lisab. The problem is its a case of it wont happen to me and when it does its too late.
We know as responsible parents to watch our kids like hawks I never thought it would aply to our pets too but saddly it does.

Hi I dont know if you are aware of a site set up after someone went through a similar nightmare. it is www.doglost.co.uk appart from anything else I think we should support them as they are trying to ge the police to take this seriously.
