Watched 'beat the burglar' this morning and the family were convinced their little terrier would be adaquate protection against intruders. The burglar not only gained entry and made friends (with a bit of ham from the fridge) but made off with a car full of booty AND the DOG!  :-D

Anybody else rely on their dogs to protect the house? I know Dylan would see anybody off before they even got a hand in the house. Any hands put through windows/letterboxes etc would be swiftly removed, but I'm sure Trin would love to open the door for them  If they did somehow manage to get in I don't fancy their chances of contending with Dylan set on destroying them and Trinity bouncing all over him trying to lick him to death!

LOLOL I doubt any burglar would even try my home as my GSD is a very big girl & has a very loud bark. I make a point of taking her to the front door on a lead if anyone calls that I don't know & I never stop her barking. Mind you the cavaliers also kick up a racket, my BCs were silent but always came to me to tell me there was someone there. A traveller once came round the side & tried to open the padlocked gate(whilst his mate was at the front door), I found him with my two collies firmly attached to his sleeve & he was literally wetting himself. especially when my GSD came out & started barking. LOLOL I did point out the no enter signs & the warning that there are dogs running free

Well, as our mob each want to look out of a window, and we give them free run of downstairs when we are out - if anyone comes to the house they will find a dog up against the front door window - barking;  dog up by the sitting room window - barking;  dog up against dining room window - barking;  dog up against glass back door - barking; dog up at utility room door - barking  AND another one rushing around, trying to find a window to bark at!!!

Might be a trife off-putting - but it means I'm always cleaning windows when the sun shines!!

Well I think that anyone trying to get into my house would be have to be plain daft :P

Ella believes that not only does she own the house, but also the farm, yard and fields for 20 miles :D She does "Shepherd patrol" on the second every second. When we had the builders from hell in last summer, she opened the back door and sat very nicely at the bottom of their ladder waiting for him to come down, I was in the office at the time and didn't realise, the moron missed his lunch hour because of it, aaah poetic justice :D

Murf is led by Ella, if she accepts them then he will. Callia is yet to be educated on security (well, she is only 10 weeks old) :)

ditto on dogs at windows... really should buy shares in window cleaner!!! It's worse now with Trin - she's a lot taller than Dylan so the window get slobbered on both at the top AND the bottom now

No Abby would be useless and thats exactly how I want it she thinks strangers are there to play I wish if someone broke in she would hide under the bed I would hate to think of her protecting our home and in the process getting hurt or killed everything else is replacable she isnt.

LOL - Margot - same in our house - but not as many noses :D :D

As ours don't like letting our friends in, I don't think that they would be too happy with a burglar. The window cleaner has to knock to get the all clear before he can start :D

Mine make their presence felt when anyone so much as passes our house (not that it happens very often). They go crackers, barking, howling, running back and forth trying to see who it is.
Then, once they see who it is, they start jumping up, howling some more, licking, bouncing more howling and i have to throw treats about to get them out the way.

Due to their size and the number of them i doubt anyone would attempt a burglary. It works out at 78 stone of dogs running at you, i wouldnt want to risk that for any size of TV!

Yeah I wish that I cd. take the title literally too!

I can tell you now that if the burglar is drugged up and after money it doesn't matter how ferocious your dog looks they won't care less.  The one who broke into my house nearly 3 years ago has just been to court.  Commnity service and anger management course !!  This can't be his first offence as he was caught out by the DNA taken of the blood at my house so he must of done plenty before.

And who's paying for his ****** community service and anger management course?  US.  What a waste of time and money.  he should be made to work full time and get of his backside!   Aggggghhhhhh  !!

I have 4 dogs at home, 3 of which won't have welcomed him too nicely but he still totally wrecked my house.  Caused problems with the pups of my then pregnant bitch, took one dog who appeared at my parents 2 weeks later and made me lose nearly 2 stone in weight (I was skinny enough as it was :d).
