Does anybody's dog watch t.v? Bailey sits there for ages if there are animals on watched animal planet and he never left only to look behind telly he then talks (funny growling noise) at them. It looks really funny my family think he's mad and can't believe he watches it.

:D  :D

My malamutes LOVE Animal Cops, Breed All About it etc Heads go side to side, ears twitch, they talk away to the TV and yes on occassion search behind it.  I love lazy days where we all get to lounge about, they have me laughing all day.

Do your males know the difference between male and female? Mine give a low grumble at the boys but are all waggy for the girls :) One of the boys even knows when a particular male is coming up on our breeds Breed All About It and his hackles come up ready for him to be seen off!!!!

They seem to like sheep and horses too :D

Animals can see more that you think. We had a cat that loved the clock on TV and would try to catch the moving parts. My 2 cats love animal planet !! They love fish and small animals moving around!
Also I had a chameleon and when I was standing in front of his habitat he saw a picture of another male
chameleon and he puffed up and started showing off to impress the 'intruder; of his space.
And it was just a picture in a book that I was holding!! (upside down even!!)
Couldn't believe he noticed it !!
So a lot of animals actually see what is there and recognise what they're looking at.
(and you've gotta love the fact that they try to look to the sides and behind the TV to follow whatever was on it just like little kids do ! :D )

None of my dogs watch TV, Little Ellie occasionally takes a fascination to it, but that phase passes very quickly.  Megan on the other hand was an avid snooker fanatic.  She would sit and watch a whole hour of it at a time.  Very rarely does the cameraman lose sight of a pocket, but on one occassion he did and when the ball dropped, Megan ran behind the TV to look for it. It upset her so much that she could not find it for a retrieve, She was convinced the ball had to be there somewhere.

Jazz loves watching t.v.  His favourites are animal hospital breed all about it and the more than advert with Lucky .  He is so funny if you shout wheres Rolf/Lucky he is straight in front of the telly no messing.  Only problem with this is when we want to watch animal hospital etc we cant see :D :D

One of my cavaliers not only watches the telly, as soon as an animal of any kind comes on it he barks at it. He can keep up his barking for as long as th animal is on the screen. We have had to resort to either turning animal programs off or taking my cavalier out of the room.

Leo watches TV, he loves anything with dogs on and goes in search of them he also likes casualty and holby city, the sounds of the amulances have his little head tilting from side to side - mind you he is a dog who barks at that "other" dog that looks at him from beyond the mirror

I've posted on this before ;) I love hearing other peoples stories on dogs watching TV. Murfee howls at certain theme tunes and watches other programmes with interest.

The pup has just realised that the big box in the corner makes noise and has moving pictures, she's at the captivation stage at the moment :P

Millie always watches animal programmes but also if I put a black and white film on, she watches intently!  Can obviously see these better than colour programmes.

Many years ago my aunt had a lodger whose dog (maybe a Yorkie or similar) would watch the whole of Match of the Day with it's nose pressed onto the TV chasing the ball round the screen :D

Daisy

Our dogs don't take any notice of the TV except when a door bell rings :)

Well both of our soft coated wheaten terriers were the telly. Dougals favourite program is Ground force cause he likes the music. He will also watch anything with cheering on and loves watching the football, rugby and the boxing! Lottie likes anything with music on and also likes to watch herself on the video camera! They both like animal programs and watch the soaps occasionally. There favourite is Coronation Street! I think it's because there is so much shouting!! Their uncle Flynn was watching a polar bear yesterday but his fav program is cell dogs!! :D

- By marydoll [gb] Date 07.03.05 18:00 UTC
Three dogs at home but only one watches, he jumps at the screen sometimes switching it off with his paw.when any large cats come on (lions etc) he almost goes through it at one point we had to save the t.v from getting knocked of the stand, and hes only a wee terrier.
God help me when the ceaser advert comes on.

My cocker spaniel used to sing along to the theme tune to Neighbours - nothin else.  When they changedthe tune took her a couple of days, then she got used to it and joined in - in perfect pitch.

Only Truffle likes tv and then it really has to have animals on it. She was so fascinated to see horses beitn ridden that when we were at a show last summer I walked her over to see them. You should have seen the look on her face. She obviously thought that they were dog size :D

My Westie watches tv and even falls asleep watching it! And everytime an animal is on there, doesnt matter what kind, she goes mad barking at it. And even runs behind the tv thinking its gone behind there when its gone off screen, shes a silly moo but i wouldnt change her for the world. As for my Weimaraner, he never even looks at it and wonders what the heck Minnie(westie) is barking at!
