I was wondering whether any of you have ever taken out one of the "lifetime policies", where you pay X amount of money and the dog is insured for life?

I was looking into it as i would rather pay out a few thousand £'s in one go and never have to bother until i have a new arrival.

Thanks in advance.

Hi thedark,

I don't know of any that you pay a whole lifetime's premiums up front   usually what happens is you pay a higher monthly or annual rate than for the other covers that a particular company offers.

Like I've said on a previous thread, M&S offer lifetime policy which is very reasonable and I think it's something like an extra 14p a month for me on each dog to cover the cost of not having any excess on claims either.

No doubt others will be able to give you some positive feedback on good companies and the best policies each offer but not sure about the upfront element - we'll see ;)

Oh,
Its very much like me to be given the wrong information.
At the moment i dont need insurance but my life is going to change dramatically, along with the income (losing 22k per year) so i will have to insure the lot of them soon.
I'll have a look at the M&S, thanks.

It's not necessarily "wrong info" - I just haven't heard of it ;)  But I think it would be too complicated from an admin point of view (and too expensive for us users :P )because obviously you could insure a puppy for, say, 15 years and pay thousands £'s up front only for the poor little thing to die years before that :(

I would rather pay say £2000 for lifetime cover and never have to pay again. I get sick of all the direct debits as it is without a massive insurance premium comming out. One quote would have had £130 a month going out on dog insurance alone. It would be much easier for me to make the one off payment.
