At work we have had Wilf, one of the vizslas for a year now, when we first got him his breeder informed us of a deformed claw due to him being trod on when a small pup. We had our vet look at him who said he would like to see how he gets along before we decide to have the claw removed as if removed it could cause him more problems. Anyway Wilf could be fine on his bad foot for weeks and then he would have to rest for a couple of days, and then just before christmas we discovered (purely by accident, he had cut his foot so needed his foot bandaging) that when his foot is bandaged he 'forgets' that his foot is bad and walks/runs normal, so out came the dog boots for Wilf to use, that was until 2 weeks ago when Wilf decided that no amount of bandages, boots or coaxing would make him use his foot for more than 10 mins at a time so of to the vets he goes and the next day he is booked in to have the affending claw removed, that evening we get a call to say all went well and Wilf minus his middle toe can come home in the morning. It turns out that he didnt have enough padding between his bones in the affending toe and the floor so that when he walked his bone was hitting the floor. Obviously everyone feels bad that he has had to cope for nearly 2 years with a foot that was giving him more pain than he let on. He is now on kennel rest until monday when the stitches come out but nobody has explained that he is supposed to be resting and he keeps running around the kennel walls. :D

Diesel our 5 year old weim has found a new home and will hopefully move in next week, we decided to rehome her after she had a masectomy due to mammary tumours, she now has to have check ups 6 monthly to catch anymore tumours in time, so diesel is now retired and is to be spoilit rotten in fact we went doggy shopping with her new owner today and she is going to definitley be as happy as a pig in muck :D
