Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / looking for breeder of my beardies
- By Guest [gb] Date 28.02.05 18:52 UTC
Have moved several times and lost the papers of my two beardies. The first is now 13 years old and was called Mortonville Rascal - dad was a fantastic dog called Rupert. Know the owners/breeders split up and Rupert is dead but the bitch was still alive when we bought our 2nd beardie 2 years ago (not of her needless to say!!) . Think the line had Potterdale in it but can't be sure!
Anyway, both our Beardies are doing well but my daughter has taken the 'pup' to uni with her so our old dog is pining.  Looking for another beardie and would be great if we can go back to same breeder. Any ideas who it is and how to contact them?

Try the Bearded Collie Club

90% of all beardies have a potterdale dog/bitch in their pedigree so not much of a help just looking for potterdale

The only thing I came up with was Potterdale - perhaps it would be an idea to get in touch with them if your dog has them in their pedigree?  They may have contact information for you, you never know!  Hope that helps. :)

Spaniel lover there are potterdales in most beardies pedigrees so unless they know of every dog that their breeding appears in it will not help the OP

And there was me just trying to be helpful..

LOLOLOLOL spaniel lover most non beardie people think that having potterdale dogs in the pedigree is unusual when actually finding a beardie without a potterdale dog/bitch is unusual !

But it is probably enough to satisfy their emotional need for a dog related to their own by helping them find one of the many ;) others who carry the line so in that sense it was entirely helpful :)

Actually Mortonville Rupert had more Edenborough breeding from his pedigree as there are only two potterdales in his pedigree both of which were bred from non potterdale dogs/bitches

As well as Osmart &  Coalacre etc

If the OP wants to look up her dogs mothers breeding via the above website they will be able to find the breeding of their dogs if not their actual pedigrees

LOLOLOLO I did say only 90% & I include a certain dog people class as a Potterdale that wasn't !

I misread Rupert as the Mortonville name

OP's dog is here with 6 potterdale dogs only two of which have a potterdale parent Interesting !

I didn't have any particular inclination towards the rareity or not of a particular affix in a dog's pedigree MM, Bearded Collie's are evidently not my breed, however I was just trying to be helpful to the OP and try to provide somewhere for them to start their search-any form of  information is far more useful than none at all!

LOL I wasn't having a go at you & as it happened I misread the dogs reg name(the result of being dyslexic)& I actually found the dogs pedigree for the poster. I just find it interesting that the name Potterdale stuck with the poster even though her dog had only a few of their dogs in his pedigree & had more Edenborough & other affixes. Even had my Champion bitches father in the pedigree

It's a bit like someone saying to me "I see you have a Ricksbury bred dog"about my youngest cavalier when in fact he has only one R dog in his pedigree & that was bred from parents that were not R dogs & the R dog isn't his father !

It seems that Joe Public pick out the names from pedigrees that they've heard on the TV at Crufts & overlook the other dogs !

If they want a dog of similar breeding they would in fact be better off contacting Lesley Tomlinson of the Coalacre affix as I think the Mortonvilles affix is now in Bichons & Havanese

The breeder of Mortonville Rascal was Chris Freeman of Lincolnshire. His dad was Coalacre Collusion otherwise known as Rupert and his mum was Mortonville Classic Style otherwise known as Shelly. Chris is not on e-mail but I still have regular contact with her. If any more information needed please reply and I will do what I can.
