Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / How do i know if my Staffie is in whelp

Hi,
I took my Staffie bitch to a stud dog on her 13th and 15th day of her season. Should the covering have been successful she should now be 4 weeks in whelp.  I took her to a vet last week, on her 26th day, but the vet could not feel anything as she would not stay still long enough.  She is very, very affectionate and wants to be with me all the time.  She also wants to eat all the time but has been sick after her dinner a couple of times aswell. She sleeps alot and doesnt want to play with my kids at all, which is very unlike her.  Her nipples seem to have got slightly bigger but I dont know if Im just imagining it because i want her to be pregnant.  I am in two minds whether to take her for a scan or not.  I would appreciate it if anyone has any feedback for me.

Really only time will tell for sure.  A positive scan will tell you for sure as all the classic signs of pregnancy also are present with a phantome pregnancy.

You dont I have bred staffies in the past and on two accasions vet said no but they arrived just the same its because of the build of the dog The only thing to do is wait and treat her as if she is in whelp that way you have done your best for her. Good luck
