Does anyone know of a miracle cure for tear stains.  I have tried every pet store remover known to man yet I still can't get that fur as white as snow.  My poor dog has had this problem since birth the vets says that his tear ducks don't function properly hence he cries and his white fur turns a gingery reddy colour around his eyes.  Can anyone help????

Wipe the eye area including down the stain with OPTREX
it contains boric acid which will help break down the staining
then cover with morhulin (from a chemist)
it is a very thick creamwhich will act as a barrier cream.

Some bulldog owners have found that by the dog only drinking
filtered water the staining was reduced by50% in as little as a fortnight.

A solution (about half a teaspoon in quarter of a pint of warm water) of bicarbonate of soda gently wiped over the stain will certainly help, though not instantly. Take care not to get it into the dog's eyes.

I have a black & white cocker pup that does suffer with tear stains, I use a product called Kleen face, drops to put in the eyes and also a product called Eye Envy, stain remover, you can see improvements within 3 days!.........we don't have a tear stain in sight now!

I use Eye Envy for my cavalier boy, who has Syringohydromyelia, the stains have gone & I now only have to use it once a week or sp to keep it under control

i tired eye envy on my bichon and it did not work!  it only covered it up making it look like it was workingbut then it would look bad again later in the day. it was expensive and a waste of time.

You are the first person to say it didn't work It works fine with my dogs but it has to be used correctly & should  be used more than once a day on heavy staining
- By debbieagain [us] Date 08.03.05 01:00 UTC
i used it correctly and twice a day.  its just another one of those high priced supposedly miracle cures.

In your opinion but in my experience of EE over the past 18 months & those of others including professional groomers it does work & if the staining is very bad it should be used more than twice a day

However if you E mail Cal & explain that you consider it to be rubbish & that it did not work I'm sure you will receive a refund

I've heard only great reports about eye envy from people who have used it,it has worked for them :) It's just a touch expensive :(

Guest if your interested in a natural "cure" you can try adding organic apple cider vinegar to your dogs drinking water,it must be the kind with the "mother" in it,not the processed supermarket stuff, you can get it from health shops,1 teaspoon to 1 litre of water and also supplement with VitC(ester C),both of these supps. help turn the tears clear and you wont get the brown staining :) Nothing will stop your dogs eyes from running, but you can stop them turning the fur brown :)

Can you register and let us know what breed of dog you have and the actual severity of the stains?
