Somtimes when i am out shopping i see a lad with his dog her name is katie, she is very well looked after by her owner,i often get him a cup of tea and a butty and the dog some food,he is homeless sleeps in skips ect,i was told that he had been abused as a child and was taken into care,i have a soft spot for him as he is not a druggy or a drinker,he idolises his dog, however i hadnt seen him for a couple of months up until today,he looked so sad  sat outside m and s,i asked him did he need anything ,he only wanted a cup of tea,the dog bed was very tatty and damp i went to the market and bought a new one also a fleece blanket and gloves, his face just lit up,i hope they are a little warmer tonight,he has been offered accomadation, but not with the dog and he willnever give her up.What a cruel world we live in .

You have my admiration. Fortunately I live in a very rural area where you just do not come across people living rough like that. Sad that somebody who has nothing treats his dog better than a lot of people who have everything isn't it.

aww its amazing that even though they are homeless they still manage to keep their dogs fit and healthy.
i can remember my nan let this young lad stay with her to get himself sorted out he was only 17 and his mum had abused him and kicked him out with his dog a staffy it was one of the biggest staffys you could imagine lol.
there is a man near wherei live that has a little puppy dont know what sort of dog it is yet but its guna be big lol i always give him money when i see him hes a really nice man and hes puppy is soo cutei just wish that they would find somehwere warm and that to live cause its really unfair on both man and dog to have to stand the cold and that and go hungry most of the time

I know in some citys there is a charity that helps people living rough to look after their dogs, provide vets, food etc. I just wish I could remember their name! I know that I once thought in a bout of depression about running away. The thing that stopped me - how would I carry enough dog food!

I think you are thinking of St Mungos?

That would be the one - kept thinking St Bernard!

Sheila that is very sad :(

I must admit I do tend to keep a distance from the homeless in Oxford as they are sometimes very intimidating especially leaving work in the dark .

You are so kind to have done that for them and it is better than giving money as I often think that all money goes towards is Special Brew. Sorry I know that is generalising.

It is shame the shelter can't be more accomodating and let him take the dog :(

At least he is with somebody he loves and has the same love back :)

You have made me think now .

My mum has done the same before now given them some dog food etc. and they've been really grateful.
