Unfortunately train travel on a weekend isn't designed to get you anywhere early.  I had this same problem one year, as of course you officially have to be in before 12.00.  I contacted the Kennel club for a note so that some jobsworth wouldn't refuse to admit us.  It only works if you are second in the ring.

Another year we were on Friday and they took off the first two trains and I arrived when they were judging Open dog(should ahve handled a dog in Linit) and only just managed to settle my bitch to show her in Junior.

What I am sayng in a roundabout fashon is that try really hard to get a lift with another exhibitor, or someone who wants a day out.  Un fortunately in this day and age non drivers are very badly catered for.  I don't even have the option of learning to drive due to visual impairment, so this issue makes me cross.

Have you tried any of the crufts buses?

I know a few years ago I tried the train way and I gave up.. Not very accommodating at all for such a big venue.

When Crufts first moved to the NEC I did contact the KC and asked if they had been in contact with Bristish rail regarding extra trains etc... as in those days most foreign visitors were staying in London not realising that the NEC is Birmingham. They said no but as travellers by train we might try to get extra trains by contacting the NEC. British rail said that unless after the first year there was a significant demand for a train to run on the Sunday, they wouldn't be putting on extra trains. So it is the railway companies we need to bombard with enquiries not the service and sales operator but the chief bigwigs.
