a friend of mine has a rottwieler, when it walks it looks like a bear.  It seems to roll, could this be due to hip displascia or is it normal in this breed?

It could well be HD, holding the hips in. Is the dog pacing? This often happens.

I've got a lab who does that, she's just blooming lazy! I have to RUN with her until she changes to a trot, she can pace very fast! (but I love her.) Her hips are 12:13

How old is he? Our Akita used to do this when he was young - his hips are 2/3

One of my Spanish walks like this, she looks like a really woman with her sexy bum :d   Her hips were 5/5 !

Edited to say that I hope that they still are 5/5 seeing that she only had them done a few months ago at the age of 4 :d
