Can anyone who lives with a Basset please recommend the amount of walking / exercise one should have each day.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi
I am afraid that Bassets will tend to be couch potatoes if given the chance, but they do really love to go on long walks and sniff all the lovely smells. I take mine every day into a nearby forest. I do not let the hound off because if she got the scent of the many deer that live there, she would suddenly become deaf L O L.
I am lucky in that I do not work so weather permiting my dogs get at least a 2hr plus walk, and as Bassets are good eaters, little pigs really, they will tend to put on weight if you dont exercise them enough.
I use a really long extending lead on a harness so she gets to run and play with my other dog and so far she has a nice trim waist (I only wish I had one as well).
I have had Bassets for a long time now and all have really loved their everyday walks. In fact when the weather is too bad to go out for long she gets restless and misses her exercise.
I hope this does help you and that you get as much pleasure from your Basset as I do mine.
Good luck
Carol
