So this Friday OH and I fly back over to Portugal to meet the breeder and arrange transfer of ownership!  So my American TB ex racehorse now has a half brother - a Lusitano Colt 2 yrs old called Xicote (pronounced Chicote) or Chico for short.  So after a lifetime of wanting a dapple grey with Black legs and Black mane and Tail I have ended up with a bay to go with my adorable chestnut!  Now I just have to work on the stealing a BT from Big sis and getting my Italian Spinone puppy who will be a brown male called Barclay ;) On 2nd thoughts we haven't gone to Lisbon yet so better keep the BT and IS quiet from OH ;)  Anybody know any other Lusitano owners as I may be in need of a bit of friendly chat.

Not that busy Lindsay as he will stay with his breeder until he is 3 then he goes to a Portuguese trainer I know in Lisobon to be backed and schooled in the more classical style as I prefer that method of training. Plus it is a lot cheaper to keep him in Portugal to be backed and schooled also they will not insist he is gelded which seems to be the norm here in the uk.

Having been over there and ridden 4/5yr old stallions (which I hasten to add is not something I would do over here) there has to be something about the more traditional methods involved in schooling a horse.  So I want him to have the best start possible which also gives me the excuse for sneaky weekends away ;)

Will you be at Crufts on gundog day again Lisa?
