Hello
this is my first post
I have two staffords a female at 2 years and a male at 6 years, on her last season i tried to breed her with my male dog
he was very eager but im afraid my female didnt want to know him
she stood for him for about 40 seconds and then didnt want to no him
i thought it might of been her age ive read that every dog is different
as anyone else had this problem with there female
is there anything else i can do .

I am assumin that both your dogs are Kennel Club Regitered have been eye tested as unaffected by PGPV and preferably been Hip Scored? I would also hope that they ahve been independantly assessed as being of breeding quality.
It would be quite rare to find that your own dog and bitch are a perfect match for eacah other. masny bitcccches will not mate with a dog they live with, and if both are maidens it is probably wiser to find a compatible expereinced stud dog to use on your bitch.
I hope that as there are already far too may Staffords finding their way into Rescue that you have really thought out your reasons for breeing a litter. It should be in order to breed Typical Staggords as close to the breed standard as possible and an improvement on the parents. Also you will be morally responsible for those pups for the rest of their lives which may well entail having to take back into your home an unruly dog aggressive adolescent or adult at anytime in the next 15 years.
my dear
it does seem to me that you have a lot of mental issues going on in your little brain, but i do understand you are an animal lover like we all are, and please dont assume anything about anybody
you dont no my dogs
i asked for advice thats all

Brainless has answered your question simply and clearly
The other points raised are ones which we all would have.
Though why she bothered at all, since it took you 2 months to look at her reply :(
Yes I thought Brainless has answered her question very well. If people out there didn't care the world would be a very sad place.

The only thing wrong with my reply were the typo's, if you don't want responsible advice then why ask?
As for your concern for my mental state, Thank you very much but I am just fine in that department, teenage kids not withstanding :D

Sounds like maybe the dog and bitch might
not be registered, eye-tested etc ...

Maybe her remembered to look us u7p because the bitch had missed? Why so people assume just because an animal has reproductive organs it should breed, as that is natural. Nothing natural about it, as in the wild only a minority have the priveledge of breeding, the strongest and healthiest by and large. The rest never get the chance.
Feral dogs do breed rather indiscriminately due to our influencing them away from natural order of things, but most of them don't survive long and eventually more natural pack dynamics surface and only the more dominant bitches and dogs reproduce, causing it's own set of problems as they don't have the inhibitions abvout humans of wild canids.
i would just like to say that both my dog's have papers and are checked by a vet
>i would just like to say that both my dog's have papers and are checked by a vet
Does this mean both dogs are KC registered without endorsements and have completed all the breed-relevant health checks? These checks do not just comprise a quick going-over by your vet; perhaps you could clear that up for us? :)
just because i own a staffordshire bull terrier DON'T make me thick. i asked a question about breeding not about my dogs health checks or kc papers (which they have both got)

" i own a staffordshire bull terrier DON'T make me thick." Doesn't ;-) Only meant is jest don't jump up and down :-))
At the end of the day if you ask a question people are going to reply but not with just what you want to hear..:-)
I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY THANKYOU FOR ALL YOUR UNHELPFUL ADVICE ABOUT DOG BREEDING AND THANKYOU FOR TELLING ME ABOUT MY DOGS KC PAPERS AND HEALTH CHECKS. OH! AND ALL MY TYPO'S
> just because i own a staffordshire bull terrier DON'T make me thick
Did I say or imply it did? :) I don't think so. I may think you are defensive, but that is an entirely different matter. ;) :) And responsible breeding goes hand in hand with health checks and endorsement-free KC registrations, therefore it is entirely plausible that on an open forum, people are going to ask you about it.

being checked by the vet is not good enough
they both need to be Eye tested and when they pass they will have it put on there KC papers
a lot of bitches will not let a dog they live with mat with them.

The health tests needed are not a routine vet-check; they're done by specialists (although your vet will take the xrays for the hipscores, the scoring is done by the KC). The eye tests are done by a specialist ophthamologist. These tests are vital if you're to avoid potentially very expensive court cases if the pups prove to have hereditary conditions that could have been avoided.
