Hi Christine.
Right first things first.
Hips - I know that Antonio in about the last year or so has started having his dogs hipscored. Eyes, I think that the Spanish are coming round to the idea!
Characters, well !! You really have to make sure that you go to the right person. Characters can be hard. The breed is as such a wary breed and with the wrong lines they can be very wary, to the extent that they won't go near anyone other than their family members. I have never met a nasty one, although one of my first litters I had a shy boy who was the best looking Spanish ever, he went to a behaviourist as his new owner who seemed really nice but unfortunately she did not bring out the best side in him!
I have to say that in recent years this seems to have been improved upon a lot and mine are now nearly the opposite where I sometimes think that they are too friendly. My Anton loves people and unfortunately he loves children, let's say a little too much :d
If your sister ( I presume that this is why you are asking?) has any queries she can always e-mail me on spanishwaterdogs@supanet.com
