Has anyone had any experience of this dog food. It looks too good to be true. Meat, not derivitives, gluten free. Just wondered what is might be like. Just curious about it.
Not sure if my girl now has cystitis and I came across this site when I was trying to find some info on cystitis.
If anyone can help me to know what I can give her. As I say I'm not sure if it is cystitis, but she's had 3 accidents in the house in 24 hours. Its not just dribbles either but proper puddles. One on son's bed :( one on our bed. Caught her at that one, boy did she get a telling off  and one on the bathroom floor :(  She is now 17 months old and is usually good at letting me know when she wants to go out. she's been on BARF since beginning of Jan. 05, doesn't usually drink a lot. Even before barf. But I have been trying to make her drink more to detox her.She doen't appear to be in discomfort when she is passing water. What does anyone think? Is it her age, or is it me giving her too much to drink :)

Bitches are prone to 'innapropriate urination' just before they are due in season - has she been speyed?

<<But I have been trying to make her drink more to detox her>>

Why on earth try to make a dog drink more? They drink what they need! Please allow you dog the right to know whether its thirsty or not! We attempt to control so much of a dog's life but a simple thing like this is for the dog to decide.

And don't tell her off either - if it is hormonal or medical then the poor dog will not be able to help having accidents.  Telling her off will increase any existing anxiety or actually cause anxiety where there was none before, either situation making the problem ultimately worse.  If she pees on beds then don't let her in bedrooms.

I hear you, but not always easy when a. You live in a bungalow b. your older dog, her dam, has always been allowed to go everywhere including our bedroom. I also am aware of the bitch coming into season syndrome, having owned several. And I also DO NOT punish my dogs without due cause, in fact neither of them have had to have had more than a severe looking at. And I do obedience with both, quite successfully, so I have a modicum of intelligence.
I obviously haven't made my request clear enough. I was asking for symptoms of cystitis. And if anyone had heard of the said dog food, but to set the record straight neither are going to be allowed in the bedroom as from tonight. My sons door is usually always closed, as this has happened before, but occasionally someone forgets to close it. No one is perfect. I KNOW neither are dogs. I don't expect 100% perfection in my pets. They aren't robots! But when you have to strip off all the bedding and take the duvets to the launderette, (no they won't go in the washer they are too bulky), just when you have already changed the beds, it becomes more than a joke. But thank you any way for your kind comments

Hi anndee,
If you want her to get more fluid try adding a little water or broth to her food or mix some broth in with her drinking water to encourage her :) You could also supplement with cranberry,i've heard great reports about it for dogs with cystitis.

I checked out the food site but i couldnt find the ingredient list to csj,it always worries me when manufactures wont willingly supply the full ingredients to  their food,or did i miss it?. If you know the ingredients can you post them here?

Good luck,i hope your girl gets well soon :)

Sorry i havnt been much help at all :(

Thanks Spook :)

Oh my, this is not a food i would want to feed my dogs

Cereals...what kind of cereals, whole or fragments.Cereals should be way down the list, not the very first ingredient.

BHA-BHT...Known cancer causing preservatives. Why cant they preserve their food naturally?

Vitamins and minerals..what kind and how much?

I'm sorry anndee, there are too many questions re; this food. It is mainly made up of cereals, you may as well go out and buy a box of cereral and serve that up to your dogs,it would be much cheaper,LOL ;)

Thanks for your kind help Rose. I never thought of cranberry juice, I think I'll give it a go. It's probably good for helping to de-tox her. Been having other itching probs. with her, but almost got it sorted, thanks to lots of help on here. I have used some of the water I boiled some liver and kidneys in, to add to her water and that helps. She won't eat the offal raw!! So I boil it for a short time, then she'll eat it.
As I say, I'm not sure if it is cystitis, she certainly isn't in discomfort when she goes and it isn't dribbles either. She is certainly going more often than before, so I shall have to moniter her carefully and maybe even take a urine sample to the vets if it doesn't improve.
Thanks again for your assistance.
Oh, I thought that food sounded too good to be true :p I wasn't going to try it.  Me and Mine are both happy on barf now :D

My baby has suffered with cystitis 3 times in her short 13months of life. Warning signs are frequent but small pees and eventually trying to go but nothing happening. Twice this has been triggered by her season. She also has problems with itching. As soon as I see the signs I take her to the vet with a sample (not easy when so small amounts are produced). This time her water sample showed Struvite Crystals so she is now on Hills s/d prescription Diet. Poor baby, she can't have bones and no treats. She also does not drink much water and this does not help but I have noticed that she is drinking more now she is on this diet. I have been told this could be a long job.  The vet wants her on this diet for a minimum of 6 -12 weeks. If things do not improve a bladder flush will be required.

Hi Gaby
Thanks for that info. It's something to bear in mind. I do hope your baby improves and a bladder flush won't be needed :( I've actually just had one myself, but thats another story :D
Ther amount mine is doing, isn't signs of cystitis, and I must say she hasn't been as often today, but I am keeping an eye on her amounts she is passing. It is probable that she may be coming in season. It will only be her 2nd so its not possible to know how long she goes between them. Mine was on Hills' Natures Best on advice from the vet. She got through 3 bags and still there was no improvement with her itchy skin. thats when I deciced to go barf, and things have improved so much, but getting them to drink plenty when they won't isn't easy is it?
Thanks again

Doing large pee's is not a sign of cystitis.   The bitch trying to wee - probably at least 2-3 times in 5 minutes and little or nothing is coming out are the classic symptoms.   Cranberry capsules from Asda's are the most effective way to give cranberry if it is cystitis, once two or three times a day helps a great deal.
- By Anndee [gb] Date 08.02.05 22:41 UTC
Thanks Christine.
Thats a good idea using capsules. I didn't know you could get them. I might get some in if not for her, for me :D I'm not keen on the taste of cranberry juice only if its got raspberry or something in with it, and it is supposed to be good for clearing us out, I believe. No I don't think it is cystitis after all as she has been back to her normal self today. Not weeing very often and when she does its a fair amount.

Youchy ou ou. You could probaly tell if your dog has a urinary infection,i completely forget but i had one years ago and boy was it painful, running to the loo every couple minutes only to produce a stinging drop.

The other posters are right she wouldnt be producing  a normal amount of wee and would be going outside constantly straining.
Sorry if you've already mentioned it but what makes you think she has cysitis?
- By Anndee [gb] Date 09.02.05 13:26 UTC
Hi Rose I wasn't sure if it was cystitis or not, but she had wee'd 3 times in the house, twice on beds and once on bathroom floor in less than 24 hours, which isn't like her. To go in the house I mean. So I was in a bit of a quandry as to why. I think it could be more likely though, that she may be coming into season, probably in the next month but I'm only guessing.
