Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Keeshond Question

Hello. I have been doing some research on line about the Keeshond. I came across this website and was wondering if you can help me.
My parents' dog (Max) is very sick. He is nine years old. He has been to the vet a number of times. His red blood cell count is very low. Conversely, his white blood cells are abnormally high. He has an enlarged spleen and liver. He was put on medication, including steroids, and responded positively for a few days. The past two days have not been good, though. He is scheduled to go back to the vet tomorrow morning for further tests.
Would you know if these are indications of cancer or leukemia? Both veterinarians who have seem him are extremely puzzled. They suggested the possibility of surgery. My parents are skeptical. His case has been put on the internet in hopes of others veterinarians seeing it and having advice. I would appreciate any information you may have on this. PLease e-mail me. Thank you for your time.
