HI All
Just enquiring about the JWB food, my vet has now advised me to put Hamish onto JWB as this is a hypoallergenic food and he said that he would prefer him to be on this than Wafcol, i have been to my local petshop and they have got Lamb and Rice, Duck and rice and White fish and rice, on the lamb and the duck bags it says that it calms irritating skin so i think it will be either of these 2 but i am just wondering whether anybody can help me decide on which one to use, i don't know whether i will be able to switch between the 2 varietys or whether this is not advisable, i know this would give him a bit of a change so that if he has the Lamb and rice 1 time the next bag i could perhaps get him the duck and then every other time change the flavour but i am not sure whether this would be okay to do.
The vet is convinced that this JWB will sort out his problems so i am going to go with what he says and keep my fingers crossed that this will solve the problem, it is just deciding which bag to put him onto!!! The vet suggested that if this does not work he will allergy test him but he wants to put him onto this food first to see if things clear.
Thanks
Helen

Hello Helen.
What exactly is the problem with your dog? Is it a skin problem ie: itching, sore etc? If it is the best thing is to feed something that your dog hasn't had before. Example if its been on a lamb based complete food, don't give another brand of complete that has a lamb base. Try the duck or fish. If it has oats or wheat in try something that doesn't have one or the other. I found Wafcol to be fairly good as mine hadn't had salmon or potato before, unfortunatly it wasn't a long term solution. She still had fairly loose motions. JWB certainly wasn't any help. Bad runs with that. Could yours be allergic to wheat/gluten? If so you might be better to cut out cereal altogether. It could take quite a few weeks until the problem is resolved. I have only just got mine sorted out after being on BARF for the last 5 weeks. I'm pleased to say that things are looking up with her now :)

Wafcol do a number of hypoalregenic diets also, including Salmon and Potatoe etc. Vets are not nutritionists by and large, adn your vet may not have heard of Wafcol and have no commercial interest in it. Call me a cynic but I bet he does sell JWB or other products produced by Pedigree :D

Hi Helen,
My basset has been on JWB for 6 months now and ive never had any problems with it. She has itchy skin probs so it has really done her good. The vet reccomends sticking to the one flavour. We started her on the turkey and she loved it but then seemed to get bored with it after five months so now we sometimes buy the duck or fish ones. Look out for special offers pets at home they sometime do 3 for 2!
Good luck im sure it will do your dog good.
