My 4 month Staffy bitch has started sratching a lot lately.I`ve de-flea`d her and checked her skin for flakeyness. She has changed onto a full raw diet about 5-6 weeks ago,but i don`t know if she has been doing it from then. She scratches mainly under  her front armpits and neck.I also read on another website that too much protein can cause itchyness in pups.Is this correct? Thanks

If you have recently changed her on to raw she may be going through a detox. Some dogs do ,some don't.
If you have had her checked by the vet to rule out other causes it may be this.If it is just carry on with the raw and once all the toxins are out of her body she will be fine.
You could also try Quistel....Worked for my 'itchy' dogs

I bought some Quistel last weekend and used it on my itchy girl and it works a treat. I got the shampoo and the spray lotion just to make her more comfortable, while she de-toxed as she has also been on raw food for almost a month now, put on it because she was itching so bad, and it is really working a treat. Between the diet and, one shampoo in Quistel she's stopped itching, although she was scratching at her ear and when I looked she's made it sore so I sprayed Quistel on that and it stopped her doing it. It will also help her ear to heal.
Good Luck Anne

Is the dog getting any bold patches anywhere?
- By spike [gb] Date 01.02.05 22:58 UTC
No, she has no baldy patches anywhere. She seems to be itching her armpits? at the top of her front legs and also around about her neck. The foods i am giving her are mostly chicken wings with rabbit, full fish, tripe, heart, bit of liver and she eats most flavours of Anglian meats( the 400g frozen blocks from pets at home) ,  she also eats apple and carrots and a raw egg every now and again. This diet is given over the course of a week.Thanks.Spike
