Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / PHANTOM PREGNANCY......HELP!
- By Boxer Owner [gb] Date 30.01.05 08:00 UTC
I am almost curtain my boxer is having a phantom pregnancy. She is carrying one of her toys around with her where ever she goes. She is shivering when she has it and is panting really hard.

All I would like to know is what to do in this kind of situation?

Should I take this toy away from her or just leave her be and let this thing run its course?

Thanks very much.

MD.

Firstly, don't worry. It happens to an awful lot of bitches. Unfortunately it can get worse as she gets older. Having a litter does NOT help them go away in the future!

I always take away the bitches toys, give her less food and water, and plenty more excercise. ;) this helps to get her mind away from the phantom. If she produces a lot of milk, or it goes on for a long time, you can get something from the vet to help reduce it.
