Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Reaching adult height?

Can I just ask at what age you would expect your pups to reach their adult height? I have an 8 1/2 months old dog whom is still under the minimum height for the breed standard. I know he wont finish growing fully until he is about 18 months old but my other dog appeared to reach their adult height by about 9 months of age.

Thanks

It depends on what breed you have. We have rottweilers and neapolitans and they tend to reach full height by about 12 - 14 months. Then after that its the filling out and maturing process which with our neo bitch took almost 3 years.

It also depends on how you feed and the actual line your dog comes from. I see so many Labradors almost finished by 9 months but I like to bring mine on slowly and they never really finish growing till 18 months to 2 years.

Regards, John
