I have just been shopping and bought an extendable lead and a whistle due to shadow turning a deaf ear sometimes when another dog approaches (don't get me wrong he's a sociable chap and only wants to play) but he won't always come back when called.
I plan on blowing the whistle indoors when he is out of sight and when he comes to investigate (which he will, we didn't call him shadow for nothing) then give him a tasty morsel.
This will then progress outdoors, initially with no temptations and once he is 110% try the whistle when he runs off after another dog and see what happens.
I would love a dog to be really well trained and I am trying my best to achieve that.
Any suggestions or corrections to this method gratefully received as I have never used a whistle before!
