Hi all,
just a question on haltis I never thought about,my husband took both the boys for their walk yesterday, both OES and both with haltis (just to give more control hubby is disabled) ,
he saw a very young lad on the other side of the road with a pitbull type dog he wasnt sure what it was,it walked past and my boys didnt bother , a couple of minutes later hubby heard shouts , turned around and this dog was in his face, it attacked both the dogs but my boys did not retaliate i since thought they couldnt do anything anyway because he halti pulls the mouth closed, so ence they would not have been able to defend themselves, just a thought.the outcome anyway was the dog had slipped his lead and attacked ours twice the young lad kicked his dog and it shot in the air but still came back for another shot, the only thing I think saved my dog was his dog " fluff" he has a rather thick neck coat so thing the other dog just got a mouthfull of hair.
We dont know who owns the dog and have never seen it in the village but we informed the police, my worst fears that could have been a child !!!
I just hope it hasnt affected my boys in anyway.

Oh jr, how awful for you and your OH, and the dogs.

I have had my dogs attacked in the past and it is not nice. I have found that one of my dogs never did like the same breed that attacked her ever again, and would go into the 'stare' mode. She would try to stare out any dog that looked like the ones that attacked her. My other dogs didn't seem to be affected by it. I deliberately found someone with a similar looking dog and arranged to meet up with them in a neutral place. As the other dog was very friendly it helped, I think.

Just keep a close eye on their behaviour for a while, just in case.

If you are a regular on this site you will know that my youngest bc got attacked on New Years Eve by a GSD.  We have had one side effect in that if he sees a GSD he goes flat on his belly and really creepy towards them.  Luckily a good friend as a really nice GSD bitch so am going to get him together with her.  Luckily he hasnt reacted like my older one did by trying to attack every dog for a few weeks!
