hi i bought my poodle as a toy poodle kc registered and he is 10 months old but he already measures 14  1/2inches  at the shoulder. i thought he should be under 11inches to be a toy poodle please could someone tell me what his height measurement and his lenght measurement should be .please reply asap as i would like to know. thanks chelly.

Toy poodle standard says that a toy 'should' not be over 11 inches.  Miniature poodles 'should' be between 11 - 15inches.  As you can see from that your poodle is the size of a miniature.  As for length a poodle is supposed to be a square dog so it should be as long as it is tall.  As long as your poodle was bought just to be a pet does it really matter if it is a little on the large side? Im sure you will love it just the same whether it is 11 or 14 inches.

I would have to say you have a very untypical toy if it is almost the Maximum height of a Minature.  Often pups being living things will grow a bit larger or stay a bit smaller than expected, but 50% taller seems an awful lot.

Did he come from a well known kennel?  Were his parents eye tested?

the reason I ask is that if his breeding is dubious he may not be waht he is supposed to be, but on the other hand if he came from a reputable breeder he just might be a throwback to the times before the sizes of Poodles were seperated when they were all bred together, and the smallest ones shown as toys, bigger ones as Minature etc.

I wouldn't expect him tom get any taller though at his age, just fill out.
