I was wondering if anyone has any advice that may help us. We have a lovely border terrier puppy of 8 months, Archie. He was quick to house train and has been very reliable ever since. Until last week. He has started moving his bowels every time he is left. It doesn't matter if he is left for half and hour, or 2 hours, or, as happened today shut in the kitchen whilst I was upstairs. I just don't know what to do, as I can't have hime with me all the time! He has started doing it at night as well, although not every night. We really don't want to have to make him an outside dog, but at the moment I don't know what else to do. I don't know if it is his age and that this won't last, perhaps a stage that he is going through, or wether it is a protest thing that can only get worse.
Can anyone help?
Thank you, Penny Hawkins

I'm sure you will get replies from other more able to help but if he was mine I would give him something like a stuffed kong and leave him in the kitchen for about 3 mins to start with then 4 and so on until you have managed half an hour with out trouble. Then try leaving him for 2 mins' without a chew and so on until he regains his confidence. Don't hurry it to much and I am sure he will soon be ok. Sure you will get more informed advice. JH
