Can someone please tell me what dogs have to do in these three classes at Ob. shows. I've found out the things they have to do in Pre-beginner, Beginner and Novice but can't seem to find any info on these three. Not that we are up to them yet, but live in hope. I know they'll tell me at dog training club but I'm impatient to know before then.

are you sitting comftabley

A.
no extra commands (this means no extra talking,or BODY movements) you can command once on each exercise (& on the odd xtra occassion)
you can have simultanious signal & command,ie hand movement & close on A recall/or finish, BUT they both must start & end at the same time
Heelfree, [pretty self explantary, expect left turns/right/about.(-no left about) all in normal pace. if there is a halt in the HW you may command again when starting off
a-recall, dog is left in a sit or down, handler leaves dohg & is directed around the ring by steward & on coommand calls the dog who joins up & continues with the HW. so in this case you are allowed to command when leaving,ie wait & a command when calling,ie fido close, but thats it,until halted
retrieve,as novice with ow3n dumbell, but no extra commands. you command,"wait" "hold" & a command for a finish, the dog collects ,presents & leaves the dumbell woith no extra commands!!!!
stays. 2minute sit in sight
         3minute down out of sight

scent, 6 cloths,:5 blanks & handler scented cloth, dog to discrimiate & return with handlers cloth,(commands like ret)

testB (command OR signal now!)
heelwork,as A plus HW at all three paces, slow normal fast.-all starting from the halt, left about turns permitted at normal & slow
SENDAWAY. dog sent out (usually to markers) to a certain point & dropped on command, then handler dirceted by steward to make a A.recall type pick up
retrieve,as A,but with judges article(not dumbell) which can be anything but food or glass!
stays;out of sight,2min sit,5min down
scent,up to 10 cloths,including 1 decoy,1handlers cloth

test c
heelwork as B,but change of pace NOT from halt, also  includes ASSD or "positions onthe move",when command, handler places the dog in sit/down /stand,leaves the dog walks past & then collects. one command when leaving one when picking up.
multiple turns allowed
ret & SA as in B
Distant control.dog is left at a distance & goes through 6 postions in a specifed order, dog must not move a body length in any direction
stays,3min sit,10min down out of sight
scent, dog has to find JUDGES scent cloth amongest blanks & decoys

thats more or less it,scary isnt it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! really though its not as bad as it sounds!!
im open to questions!!!

Thanks for that Michelle.
We've a long way to go before we get to them, if ever but it's nice to know. Also can you tell me. If a dog has got a 'progress certificate' in Beginners can she still go in a beginner class or, does she have to go into Novice? Likewise if one has a 'progress certificate' in Pre-Beginners, do she have to go into Beginners?
Sorry to appear thick, I'm new to Ob. competing, more used to breed show, but fancy giving it a go :)

only awards won at open/ch count

you can enter up to two classes (plus any special classes that may or may not be put on) with each dog. you have to enter your lowest class.
so if there is a pre bees you have to enter it & can also enter beg

but if theres not a pre bees class, you have to enter begs but may also want to give novice a go!!!

to win out of prebs you have to either win it or have been placed 1/2/3 in begs (although this MAY have recently changed to 1st only) to win out of begs you have to win it twice (wins in a higher class count too so if you won 1 beg & 1 nov youd be out)
progress certificates do not get you out!

you arent being thick its really confusing!!!!!

anndee,what area are you in?
hopefully there will be some shows that you can come to watch? what sort of dog do you have? there are all sorts of breeds in prebees & beg.
its really good fun & really addictive!
have you ever been on obuk? because theres a really good guide on there written by jane ellen called "getting started"

i feel homeless!!!!!! ;)

You'll hae to start posting your Obedience show placings there and maybe the others would follow, but maybe renameing might be appropriate as it soesn't get that many posts.
