HI I AM NEW BUT HOPE SOMEONE CAN HELP, MY BITCH IS 8 WEEKS PREGNANT, SCAN CONFIRMED AT 5.5WKS, BUT THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS I HAVE NOTICED A CLEAR JELLY LIKE DISCHARGE, I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR BUT THE BITCH DELIVERED THE SAME DAY AS THE DISCHARGE APPEARED. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS MAY BE TOO EARLY FOR DELIVERY, COULD ANYONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME ADVICE, GOOD OR BAD, THIS IS NOT MY FIRST LITTER ALTHOUGH THIS IS THIS BITCHES FIRST PREGNANCY BUT AS EVERY 1 IS DIFFERENTTHE WORRIES ARE THE SAME AS THEY WHERE WITH THE FIRST LITTER. ANY HELP OR COMMENTS WOULD GRATEFULLY RECIEVED.

my girl is on day 55 and shes been having the same heavy discharge since day 28,she was scanned yesterday showing at least 7 all are healthy,so i shouldnt worry,this is her 1st litter to,we must be due the same time?Good luck..Julia + Meg

I wouldn't worry if the discharge is clear and jelly-like. I had a bitch do this for a few days, all the pups were fine. If she starts to look distressed, or the discharge changes colour (or if you are worried) a quick visit to the vets will help calm your nerves ;)

JUST TO SAY IF YOUR BITCH IS 8WKS THAT MAKES HER 56DAYS MOST PUPPIES ARE VIABLE FROM 58 DAYS ONWARDS, DONT KNOW WHAT BREED YOU HAVE BUT IM SURE ALL WILL BE OK A QUICK RUN TO THE VETS WILL HELP SETTLE YOUR NERVES, LET UUS ALL KNOW HOW THINGS ARE GOING AND GOOD LUCK

Most bitches have a clear gelly discharge a week or so before whelp. A lot of the time this does stick to the vulva and then breaks away a day or so before they have the pups.  Take her to the vets if you are worried, but I'd be more worried if it was dark brown and especially if it was green.

THANKS FOR THE REPLIES, SHE IS NOT SHOWING DISTRESS OR ANY SIGNS OF LABOUR BEGINING, THE PUPPIES ARE ALSO STILL QUITE HIGH SO I WOULDN'T BE EXPECTING LABOUR JUST YET. I THINK IT MAY BE HER NATURAL PREPRATORY LUBRICATION. IT IS NOT A CONSTANT DISCHARGE BUT OBVIOUSLY OTHER PEOPLE'S REPLIES EXPERIENCES AND KNOWLEDGE NEVER GO A MISS. I AM REALLY PLEASED I FOUND THIS FORUM. MY BITCH WAS ALSO 55 DAYS TODAY, SHE WAS MATED 19TH NOV, YOU WILL HAVE TO LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GET ALONG.

Sometimes the jelly-like discharge hangs in a string - especially if a bitch is heavily pregnant.  As long as it is clear, then don't worry about it.

Both my girls had this for around 2 weeks before whelping, when they had a wee you could see lots of 'clear jelly' in the puddle!

They both went on to have 7 & 8 pups full term :-)
