Can anybody give me their views on these.  Thinking about using them coupled to their GL just for safety's sake and to possibly start weaning them off the GLs onto collars.  I heard from someone (cant remember who) that the chinking of the chain bit if they decided to pull makes them think twice about pulling as a sort of sign, if you know what I mean.

They are my collar of choice, they start with an adjustable cotton webbing one as puppies,a nd by the time they grow out of that they have a round non adjustable leather one with the chrome chain, this nestles into their double coat and minimises coat loss.

i dont mind them,i prefer the feel of a flat collar but its just personal opinion. give them a try & see how you get on!

a cautionary tale though. we were out for a walk & my friends collie got the chain bit caught in a branch as he was leaping around,we were quite far away but luckily in view & managed to get to him before he hung himself. scary.

my 4 month pup has a half check collar and I have noticed that he is walking better.... but......  he has also started loosing his hair around the neck, so now I'm wondering if its the collar and if I should swap back to a nylon one?? hmmm....  has anyone else experienced hair loss with a half check?

the chain may snap the hairs off. but nowhere near as bad as a full chain will

Mine have 1/2 checks, which I like - but I take them off when they are at home, as they do spoil the 'ruff' around the neck and make the white hair grey. Obviously, taking a puppy's collar off may not be a good idea tho' :)

My dogs wear a normal collar at all times with thier name and micro chip tag on they do however also have put on the half check collar when we go out for a walk.  They do give you more control and also when properly adjusted the dog cannot slip it collar should it pull backwards but it is also always comfortable.
I have had no problem with hair breakage using it this way and I have long and short haired dogs.
