Topic Dog Boards / General / Feminisation syndrome does it exist?
- By Anna [gb] Date 12.01.05 14:12 UTC
Further to my posting yesterday about feminisation syndrome I was just wondering if it was a recognised syndrome and does it affect all castrated dogs the same or are some affected a lot more than others.  My vets were not aware of the problem.  I am having a lot of problems with larger dogs jumping on our little dog and I am actually scared that he is going to get injured.  Wasn't there some tablets that could be given to bitches in season called amplex tablets and they would stop the bitch smelling like she was in season, just wondering whether these might work for our dog if they are still available.

Dogs seem to be affected in different ways - I know a JRT who one of my dogs has become fascinated by since the JRT was castrated. The only other castrated dog I know of in the area is ignored by him.

The tablets certainly would be worth trying, as they won't do him any harm. You should be able to get them from Pet shops; if not it would be worth asking for chlorophyll tablets in a pharmacy. Good luck.
:)

Thanks for replying Jeangenie, I will give them a try.
