i feed my staff connollys red mills adult complete dried food,about a mug full, i mix in half a tin of asda hero as he won't eat it by it's self. he is fed twice a day. he has bright eyes, shiny coat, loads of energy. he gets a 20-30min walk after i finish work and he's out sat sun 4 a good workout, he's 19mths old, 16" high, and about 18kg. i would say he was athletically built, but to me i think he should be broader. he has plenty muscle but just looks a bit more like a marathon runner. his head isn't as big as i thought it would have been especially given his blood line.
he get's only the above to eat and the odd doggie buscuit. he gets nothing else. oh, i sometimes mix in tinned pilchards instead of asda hero. {i tried him on different varieties but he seems to like the stuff from asda the best}
he never finnishes a meal off completely, so i know he is getting enough...
i would like some feed back please if you thihk i'm feeding him ok...i'm just concernd that he should be filling out a bit more quickly than he is, maybe i should be giving him something extra to get him to fill out more???? and if so what????
any advise would be very gratefull...thanks

"Asda Hero"? Is this Asda's own brand dog food?
If you're feeding him on complete dry food anyway, I would not feed him the Asda Hero stuff (if it is Asda's dog food) and mix it with Raw mince or tripe, or whatever you have. Mine has a thing for kidneys, so I mix them up in the blender, and mix in raw veg. Then mix all that into the mince (Chicken, Lamb, Beef etc, because mince is easier to mix for me) with some supplements and a clove of garlic now and again, with some raw fruit mixed in. Then use his dry food as a mixer with it all. Mine does excellent on this, and is filled out, but still lean and athletic.
Just my way of feeding.

Even within the same bloodlines a dog can end up with different builds .. that's what makes dog breeding so challenging!
If you can feel your dogs ribs with light pressure along his rib cage he is the right weight. If you feed him more or feed him higher calorie foods, all you are going to end up with is a fat dog.
19 months old is not a fully mature dog. I do not know staff's well, but most dogs are not fully mature until they are two-three years old.

try adding some chicken beef and white fish to his diet a well, also mackerel in brine is good, We give our 10 month Staff girl meat 5 times a week plus scrambled eggs every day and mix with Skinners muesli mix as our breeder has been using this for 14 years for her staffs, then some cheese and fruit and veggies

If your going to feed tinned fish it should be in oil,or spring water NEVER brine! Dogs do not require salt added to their diet.

I always drain the tin completely but thanks for that I'll make sure I get it in oil instead
