I am looking for deerhound puppies for sale. As we are based in Gloucestershire and England based breeder would be better (particularly as we have just returned from the Highlands where we were over New Year.
I am an experienced dog owner and could offer an excellent, rural home (we already have a greyhound & daschunds) My failtful friend, a lovely great dane died recently of old age and we are looking for a large dog to replace him as the house is not the same without a big dog around. A deehound would be ideal.
Anybody know anybody?
Thanks

Hi, your best bet is to contact rescue@deerhounds.co.uk. That will put you in contact with the Puppy & Rescue Co-ordinator of the Deerhound Club and she will know about most litters with pups available that are born or planned by Deerhound Club members. (As you are new to the breed I'd advise against buying from anyone who is not a Deerhound Club member.)
Pups are hard to find everywhere at present - KC registrations fell below 300 during the last quarter. Many breeders are happy about this as it means that the vast majority of people breeding are still true enthusiasts and deerhounds are in no danger of becoming 'commercialised'. It does mean however that you may have to wait a while and maybe travel to find a well bred and well reared pup.

I live in Gloucestershire and see two people with deerhounds when I take a certain route on my walk. I will ask if they can advise.
Where abouts do you live?
