Topic Dog Boards / Health / Phantom?

Hi,
Just wanted to ask some opinions, I've done a search on here about phantom pregnancies but haven't found the answer yet!

Millie had her season in November, and although her vulva has returned to a more normal size she still has large nipples and a rather floppy undercarriage (I wouldn't say udders exactly but a lot larger than I can recall most bitches having!).

During the last two-three days she has been refusing her food. Even meaty chunks in gravy (her favourite!) and that's just odd for a lab with a usually huge appetite. She also didn't want to go for a walk this morning and just lay there offering her tummy for a rub.

So, I'm asking if anyone thinks this is a phantom (I notice most people saying their girls get a huge appetite when this happens which is why I'm not sure what's wrong with her). I'll take her to the vets for some advice but if it is a phantom what do you do next? Just ride it out til she's feeling better?  I'm worried about how long this will go on as she's due to go into kennels for two weeks on 30th Jan and I really can't bear to put her in if she's still miserable, it'll break my heart!

Sorry for going on a bit, am sat here at work when I'd rather be at home giving her a hug (and a tummy rub of course!)

Thanks

Ali

Hi

My staffy's having a phantom and she has the same symptoms as Millie, except for the walking, she's still keen to go out.  Her last season was the end of October and we were hoping to get her spayed this week but have been told we'll have to wait 2 weeks and see how she is then.  The vet said that she would give her something to dry her milk up if she was still producing it by that time.  I don't know whether that alleviates the symptoms of a phantom, as it might be something you could speak to the vet about as Millie is going into kennels soon.
