Hi, I'd be very grateful for any advice / feedback on the effectiveness of neutering on sexual behaviour.  I have a dog approx 2 -3 years old, who is very overattentive towards bitches (OK - he's a complete pain in the neck :D).  In every other way he is lovely.  Given his age, and I suspect has probably been like this for some time, would neutering help dampen his attraction for members of the opposite sex.:D
Thanks in advance

The effects vary tremendously. I know of castrated dogs who still manage to mate and tie with bitches, and others who aren't bothered by them. You could always try the Tardak injection (it's supposed to mimic the effects of castration but is only temporary) and see what happens. Good luck.

I agree Tardak is a good option.  If you like its effects, you can then go for the permanent solution.  Speak to your Vet about it.

Thanks Jeangenie and Dawn B.  I don't really believe in castration for the sake of it.  My current boy is entire and I have no problems with him, neither with the boys I had some years ago (both entire) and so not sure what effects the castration would have.  He's not dog aggressive (gets on fine with my entire boy) and is very good natured, but is very persistent!?! with the ladies.  I'll have a chat with my vet.
