Hello
My lurcher has a nature to stretch a lot and has even started to do it whilst on walks now! Im just wondering if theres a reason why he does it? or is it just simply because he needs to stretch his muscles?
Sorry if its a stupid question but I thought that there might be another reason for all this stretching business :D
Kayla is a 'stretcher' too!! She has even be known to have a good stretch in the ring while the judge is going over her!! She also does it when she's playing with Chloe, if it gets a bit ruff(Kay likes to play ruff!!)then she will do a stretch/play bow thing which I read was a passifying gesture-it seems to work most of the time. They both stretch when they get up on a morning, before going on the mat infront of the fire(they sleep in the kitchen on seperate beds) and have a good 'wiggle' as we call it, rubbing back on floor with legs up in the air with a daft look on their faces!!!LOL!! Just another of their little quirks!! That's what I'd put it down to :)

Sparky is a stretcher, and a yawner. The yawn is usually when he's feeling anxious about something, but the stretch is usually a case of "Oh go on, mum, give us a tickle". :)
My new golden retriever does that on walks too he completely stops and has a good old stretch i just thought it was because we had tired him out.
Is it possible he is in pain as sometimes increased or new stretching can be indicative of this
One of mine constanly stretches and is a yawner, i'm sure she thinks she is a cat. She stands right on her tip toes and archers her back right up.
