Hi All, just getting a little worried about my girl. She finished her season about two weeks ago and just after christmas day she has become very sad in herself.
She has cut her two meals down to one and is not drinking as much as normal.
She will play only if asked, she looks so misserable, she is still getting exited for walks etc, but is not her usual self. She seems to be sleeping a bit more than normal. Any advice.
maybe its a false pregnancy?
I would not dare walk her along a cliff at the moment, she would definatly throw herself off!!! Thanks all.

Broody 60 days? One of my Labradors was terrible! No thoughts of working. Then, around the time her puppies would have been born she would perk up and be fine. Keep an eye open for milk production and also for the possibility of Pyometra but the chances are there is absolutly nothing wrong except shes feeling all hormonal.
My Anna seems to get it all over BEFORE coming into season!
Regards, John
before tess was spayed we knew when she would be coming into season as she would become very depressed, be a picky eater drag her feet when walking and when told to do something she would either refuse or get up and throw herself back down onto the floor throwing daggers at you and muttering alsorts under her breath :D this would carry on all through her season and then until about a month afterwards, so all in all she would be depressed for about 3 months so before she was spayed she was depressed for 6 month of the year, apart from when she got her wicked way ;)

This is really putting me off having a bitch - PMT with teeth for months! Can bitches take raspberry leaf tea or St Johns Wort or something if they get so miserable?

Raspberry Leaf is certainly recommended.
:)
Not all bitches are affected :)
My first Terv bitch was not affected in a negative way by her hormones.
My second Terv bitch became totally distracted 3 weeks before her first season which was fine by me as i guessed what it was; once she had her season she was the same as before.

Don't be worried about having a bitch Lorelei. I always had dogs until my first bitch, now it's bitches all the way! Yes, they do have their little ways but to me, they are special!
Best wishes, John
Our bitch is exactly the same - she's started to blow her coat so I know she'll come into season in about three weeks time and she's also getting very hormonal - she sits and whines if she's not with us and tends to mope around the house looking sorry for herself.
Like John I would be thinking either hormones or a possible closed pyo.
Might be worth seeing the vet for a white blood cell count to be on the safe side.
Better safe than sorry and two weeks after season is quite a classic time for pyo and they can brew the infection for quite some time before it becomes full blown.
