If you don't pay a stud fee then you shouldn't get any docs except the agreement re puppy back
With ISDS BC's there is to me a better system: as follows
<Matings are advised to the Society by submission of a Mating Card and the fee within 21 days of the mating taking place. Cards received at the office after 21 days will result in late penalty fees being incurred in addition to the fee
It is important that the Mating Card is sent to the office as soon as possible after the mating takes place. Submission is the responsibility of the owner of the stud dog and it is regretted that there is no discretion in the matter of penalty fees. In the event of late submission the owner of the sire is deemed liable for any financial loss sustained by the owner of the dam.
Note that the registered owner of the sire must be a member when the Card is received at the office. The tear-off Card portion can be completed and retained for the sire owner's records. The eye test status will be checked and any necessary tests for the sire and dam will be advised.
The Society will then send a Registration Form for Puppies to the owner of the dam. The projected whelping date will have been calculated and noted as 63 days beyond the declared mating date.>
This means that the stud dog owner knows the bitch has been eye tested & also means no one can attempt to register puppies by another stud dog at a later date by their dog(as happened to me when a breeder tried to register a litter 2 years after they had used my dog( & produced a litter)they copied my signature on a mating card but did not know that my dog was yearly eye tested & so put down the wrong eye test date which the ISDS picked up & checked with me re the mating & booted the ISDS member out for forgery(they were also registered with the KC as by my dog which was corrected & noted by the KC as a mistake !!!!!!!!)
You also have to return the registration cert when the dog dies again stopping people registering puppies falsely as being by a dead dog. It's not full proof but with DNA tests & tattoos as well any attempted fraud can be proved(microchips can of course be replicated or removed & implanted in another dog)
