My dalmatian dog has been on Selgian now for 2.5 weeks for his aggression with people and dogs to see if it will help. He is booked to see a counseller at the end of January.
I haven't seen any difference in his behaviour towards other dogs as yet but I have noticed a few things which are unlike him. He has started barking constantly in the car including a 1.5 hour drive. He is barking at everything that goes past the window in the house. His play barking with my other dog has increased and now he has started barking at me to play. Does anyone have first hand experience of this medication and any adverse effects it has?
The vet advised us that we would see a difference in him in 10 days, we certainly have that but it's not what we expected.

Have a look at this thread.        http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/board/topic/6343.html

It was later found out, i believe, that the GSD in question, Max, did in fact have pancreatic problems which would have contributed to his behaviour. Just shows how important it can be to get the dog checked out very thoroughly by a vet ;).

(Some posts on the thread are by one person but under several names - regulars may know who i mean!).

I'd already read that post after I had done a search.
This behaviour is definately since he has been on Selgian, think I'll be having a word with the vets tomorrow to see if it's normal for him to act like this.
Anyone whose dog has been on this I would still like to know if they saw improvements.

I have no experience of it, but the best bet as well as speaking to the vet may be to contact the behaviourist because they should have good knowledge of Selgian and its effects on various dogs (as opposed to the vet who may not have the behavioural understanding but will have the physiological side of it if you see what i mean).

I know it is sometimes recommended for elderly dogs, but know little else, sorry.
