Topic Dog Boards / Health / Excercising GSD puppy

Hi i have a 13 week old GSD puppy. I take her out once a day for a 1/2 hour walk is this too much for her? I was told going to the beach should be avoided because either the sand is too soft or too hard.I walk her along the pavement then down to the local playing field where i throw a ball an chase her around.I am a bit concerned as i was told i might be overdoing the excercise. I would appreciate any opinions anyone has.
Thanx Andy

Th general rule of thumb is 5 minutes per month in age - going on this rule, yes 30 mins is a bit too much at the moment, but so long as she hasnt' been spending all 30 mins running around like a loon, I doubt any lasting damage has been done.  Don't forget you can tire a puppy out more with mental excercise than physical - and it's great for bonding with her :)

You'd be much better off taking her twice a day for 15 minutes, than once a day for 30. More, shorter walks are better at this age than one long one.
:)
