Just took my 6 dogs up castle ring on the Cannock Chase up there i met 2 owners with a 14wk old GSD (shay) they come up behind and asked is it ok to socialise their pup with ours i was like ye great. So they had a great time their pup was a little bit unsure at 1st then someone else comes up. Then while we were still talking and socialising another woman comes up says is it ok to let mine of the lead with yours we were like more the better. Hers was a 14month old GSD whisper. So there were 9 dogs running round of leads all getting on and having fun. Its so nice to meet friendly dog owners and also nice to just talk about dogs. Just had to share my story of a good walk!

Awwww...seeing many dogs run together is a great site!
We once had about 10 red and whites running offlead at the sea after a show, such a lovely site! :)
We went for our clubs agility christmas walk yesterday, there were about 40 dogs all running about and having fun together, it was great fun and lovely to see them all socialising :)

This is definitely the best way to see dogs at their best especially BCs. We were up at a regular walk at the weekend and ended up with 6 B&W BCs running around of various ages. Really nice to see them playing lovely together and having a whale of a time. My two came back absolutely knackered and slept for most of the evening.

Wow dogs asleep for the evening...how peacful!!! :D
Castle Ring is a great place to take dogs, have you ever been through Sherbrook Valley, not too far away? It is very pretty with streams and waterfalls, and a nice cafe on the main road where you can take the dogs (outside area, but covered).
Me never been where is it?? Are you local?
Yes, I live on the edge of Cannock Chase, near to the visitors centre at Birches Valley, which has a nice walk around the trout pools. There are several ways of walking to Sherbrook Valley, either from Brocton, or I walk from the Rifle Ranges corner off the main Rugeley to Penkridge Road. If you would like to call for a coffee anytime, e-mail me. I just have the 1 dog at the moment, a friendly GSD bitch, but I do also walk with other dogs and their owners. Sue & Sasha
You really are close i live in Prospect Village Rawnsley its a 1 min drive from castle ring. I go to Rodbaston college in Penkridge. Im up castle ring most days we just throw the dogs in the car then drive and let em loose. Im definately going to have to go find sherbrook valley i think my dogs will love it. I've also got a GSD mines 6months old shes called Amber.
Some of my friends go to the German Shepherd Dog Club in Prospect Village Hall. I used to work at an Old People's Home in Penkridge for a few years and know Rodbaston College quite well, my son did a course there a few years ago, it's very nice and we usually go to their Open Days. When my husband was alive we used to go to an Olde Worlde Pub just outside of Rawnsley, but can't remember the name now, if I remember right the Landlord's wife took ill with a brain tumour.
You can buy a map of the Cannock Chase area from Marquis Drive Visitors Centre or Birches Valley Shop for about £1.20 and it shows you all the pathways for walks. We are so lucky to live near this area, so perfect for walking dogs. I take my dog twice a day for a different walk, she loves water and always comes back absolutely filthy. She will even swim out to feed the ducks with bread, although one day I took some stale cake, she took it in her mouth to feed them, got the taste, and thought this is yummy, and the ducks didn't get a look in. Can't understand some people though, they just seem to walk their dog round the roads till it toilets (usually on my grass verge), then turn round and go home.
You'll have to come a walk with mine some day they all get on with strange dogs really well some like to play some keep them selves to them selves but they are happy to be around other dogs. Theres also a nicew track by me mine like with a pond thing half way down thats off ironstone road, If you got towards Prospect Village and past The Rag pub and keep going when you come to the end theres a gate you can pull in infront of and theres a old road then like a dirt track after that then the pond on the right.
Thanks, Will meet up with you sometime BorderCollieLvr, there's nothing like going for a lovely walk with other people and their dogs, who are really enjoying every minute of it.
me names Hannah incase you were wondering. Anytime you want to go 'walkies' just e-mail PM or post. If it gets my dogs out meeting and socialising its all fun. There isnt many friendly dogs on my village for mine to meet when they are taken locally most peoples dogs are confined to the house and only seen when they attempt escape or sit in the window.
Hi Hannah, just read your other posting and hope Hazel is alot better now. There are loads of thoughtless people about leaving litter everywhere, I think some just think it's funny. Would love to meet up with you one day and go for a walk, wishing you and the dogs a Happy New Year. Love from Sue & Sasha xx
