My mum has always wanted a siamese so i have been thinking of buying her one. I asked her if she wanted me to buy her one to make sure it wouldnt be unwanted and she said no you dont have to its to much money for you to pay. So im saving some extra cash and hopefully in a few months will be able to get her one she has got a moggie cat at the moment but we've never bought a pedigree cat do they have to have certain health checks like dogs and where do i start to look for one?

BorderCollieLvr,

Please look around a lot and study who is producing good Siamese kittens with a proven show record too.  There are a lot of cat breeders out there who just basically do that, yes some produce some good kittens but some just repeatedly breed from their queens year after year.

I have just bought myself a pedigree kitten after having had lots of lovely moggies over the years.   I saw the British Shorthaired black tipped on a website and fell in love with them.  I basically tried every link in Google to find out more about the breed and then several breeder's names kept cropping up with good quality cats.   I sent off a lot of email enquiries & had about a 50% response to them, luckily one lady remembered me and put me onto a breeder who had used her stud cat several months earlier and had 2 females for sale.   I now have a beautiful kitten and I made contact with a really helpful breeder who entrusted me with one of her kittens.

If you can get to a cat show, even better, take your mum &  have a good look at what would appeal to your mum, she could have this cat for 16-18 years.   Be prepared to pay approx £250- £400 for a kitten on the non-Active register (Can't be bred from), more if it's on the Active which most breeders won't do either.   You have to pass their very rigorous tests to get a kitten on Active!!!!

Hi,

We're in the process of trying to find a reputable breeder of siameses, we really want another chocolate point. I've emailed several breeders but a lot of them seem to have about 20 available at the same time! I don't want one from a commerical breeder, but don't really know where to look.
