Tonight when i was out with Amber and Ollie i was round the corner on the new estate talking to someone with a BC pup and her next door neighbour comes out and starts talking, he says i bet your dogs wont like me. He went to stroke them Amber growled and backed away he called Ollie who then went to snap at his hand. These two dogs are normally fine with everyone showing no aggression what so ever. What on earth triggered them to do that and has anyone ever had a experience like that before with anyone? I didnt want to tell the dogs off for doing it as its so out of character.

Weird

When I was at school my friends dad had about 4 dogs, 3 of which were working springers.  One of them I used to look after when it was a pup if they were out during the day.  I didnt go round there much and the next time I went round she was an adult and she was petriefied of me - barking and growling and hiding behind my friends dad, even the treats didnt help.  The other dogs were fine with me, they think it *could* be that I had a ferret and they could smell her (hopefully no one else could smell her on me  ;) )  Maybe this man smelt of something weird, that only the dog could smell ?

Seems a bit strange that he was already so certain they wouldn't like him before he even approached them.  Maybe there was something about his scent or the manner in which he stroked them that they didn't like.

Maybe he was too abrupt in his approach, and if he reached over the dogs head as well.......;)

Odd - but not unique someone I know is the same dogs (including everyone of mine) just don't like him. He does not do anything I can see.  But he says no dogs like him, but he is nervous of them maybe thats it.
