Hi MY 9 week old westie, has got runny stools, and half of it is fresh red blood, he has had 3 bowel movements in a hour all of which had loads of blood in, he is eating and drinking well, and seems happy playing normaly, but i am worried, i am taking him to the vets today, but wondered if anyone can shed any light on this, he has been wormed, so could it still be worms?? he is due to be wormed again on thursday, it is bright red blood, and like i said there seems to be over half of stool which is blood the other half very runny.

Any info would be greatfuly accepted, i have tried contacting the breeder with no luck.

Thanks in advance

Lorraine xx

You're doing the right thing by going to the Vet - please update us asap. I do trust the little one isn't too poorly.

Hi Lorraine,

Really hope your little guy is alright - sounds as though he's none too comfy if nothing else :(
You're doing the right thing by getting prompt vet attention - dogs can go downhill very quickly, especially such young pups.
Keeping everything crossed for you, please keep us posted.

Best wishes, Teri ;)

Any news on your westie, my pup has had the same. The vet prescribed food and antibiotic coupled with an overnight stay but it has not really helped. I have resorted to chicken and rice again but don't know what else to do. Do you have any more news or tips??

Our Bedlington had a similar problem last year. We were recommended to try Naturediet Lite food and it sorted things out in a couple of days. We use 1 pack per day split between 3 meals. It is stocked by Pets at Home. There is a website www.naturediet.co.uk and they will do mail order. Good luck.
