Hello I was just wondering how the Pet Passport/Pet Travel Scheme works in regard to importing puppies, plus what countries can you import dogs from without having to put them through quarantine? There are a few breeders whose dogs I admire in Europe and the USA of Brittanys but I have no idea how the scheme works so am reluctant to contact them until I at least have a basic grasp of how it works, and also how the registration of imported dogs with the Kennel Club works, i'm afraid i'm clueless in this field.

This site should answer most of your questions. The KC Year book gives most of the info you need on registering an imported dog you can order it online from KC site Because of the dates & ages for inoculations & tests I think a puppy would be 9mths at the youngest before it could be imported.

The youngest age that they can be imported is 10 months. Rabies vaccination at 3 months, blood test at 4 months and then 6 months after the blood-test (providing the bloodtest was positive for anti-bodies) they can travel.

We imported a bitch from Finland in June this year. Providing all the paperwork is done correctly and the procedure is followed to the letter, there should be no problems.
